- Select System Setup from the Administration menu. This will open the System Setup window if it is not open, or bring it to the front if it is already open.
- Select the group under which you want to create a document type and click New (
) and select Document Type (
). A New Document Type dialog box will appear, asking you to name the document type and specify the description field for the document type
- Name the new document type in the Name field. For example, document types within a Job Tickets group of the Jobs folder type may be "Preflight, "Electronic_Imaging," "Bindery", "Press", etc. Or you could a different taxonomy such as "emails, concepts, deliverables, etc...". The point is, the choice is up to you. Virtual Ticket Developer is flexible enough to accommodate the taxonomy that works best for you.
- In the Description Field area of the dialog, specify the name, datatype, and maximum length (if necessary) of the description field for the new document type. The folder type description field will store the descriptions of individual folder records. For example, a proof document type may have the proof date or proof type as its description, allowing you to easily distinguish between multiple proof documents that have been attached to the same job. The document type description field can be a character field (with up to 255 characters), integer, decimal, decimal(HI), date, time, or 64 bit integer field.
Note: Once a description field has been set, it can be changed in the File Cabinet window. - Click Add (
). This will save the document type to the Virtual Ticket Developer database and display the document type within the structure grid of the File Cabinet window.
